Is an unpaid internship worthwhile?

If it gives you experience then yes! Even if it's unpaid, you are making connections in your industry which has immense value.
I think it is, as long as the experience you are getting will help you in the future. However, if you find yourself giving a lot of time to this internship, so much so that you can't commit to a part-time job for money, you should consider getting a paid internship or at least finding another unpaid internship that allows you to work at the same time.
I believe that an unpaid internship is worthwhile, if it helps you grow and improves on your existing skills all while exposing you to a potential career path (experience is key). If while at your internship you feel you're merely being used as a person to do menial jobs and you're not learning much, then I would say it is not worth it. It all depends!
It depends on how much time you're willing to dedicate to it, but generally an unpaid internship can help you learn a lot and will make it easier for you to find paid positions in the future. It should be an internship that you're really interested in as, otherwise, you might not be as motivated to do well. If you find an internship that really appeals to you, you might end up enjoying it so much that you don't even think about the fact that it's unpaid. Regardless, you'll end up learning new skills that will help you out in the future, so even if you're not being paid, you're still benefitting from the experience.
If the internship will help you build necessary skills and experience needed when applying to jobs in your field after graduation, then yes it is worthwhile. It allows you to network with people who have already broken into the field and have experience. It will definitely pay off in the long run when you get a great job because of this internship after graduation.
Yes, I think that an unpaid internship is worthwhile because, regardless if you are paid or not, it will still boost your resume! If this does not financially make sense, then maybe reconsider, but I strongly encourage people to take internships whether they are paid or not. Also, with any internship (paid or unpaid), many schools offer class credit for these internships, which in a way is another form of payment (or, rather, gain). If you want to be a banker, having an unpaid internships at Bank of America on your resume is more beneficial than having a paid internship/job at a camp or an advertising agency. Internships are there to boost your resume, and if you do get paid, that is simply a happy perk!
I think it really depends on what you are trying to get out of the internship! If it something that will provide you with a really great experience, connections, new skills, etc. it can be worth it! But if it's something that won't really help you or be a big bonus on your resume and you would prefer to be paid or have the option to get an internship that does pay, then the path is clear.
